s and plan to sell the hats for $5 each and the t-shirts for $12 each. Let x represent number of hats sold and y represent number of t-shirts sold. You must sell enough so that you earn more than the $240 you have already spent. Which of the following inequalities represents this situation?

The number of hats sold = x

The number of t-shirts sold = y

Cost of selling of each hat = $5 and

Cost of selling of each t-shirt = $12.

Cost of x hats at the rate $5 each = 5x and

Cost of y t-shirts at the rate $12 each = 12y.

Total cost of x hats and y t-shirts = 5x+12y.

Total amount was spent = $240.

Therefore,<em> cost of x hats and y t-shirts should be greater than or equal to 240.</em>

<h3>So, the inequality for the situation would be </h3><h3>5x+12y ≥ 240.</h3>
