One of the main accomplishments of the Qin Dynasty was the creation of a large systems of roads and canals.  The system of roads all connected to the capital located at the center, which allowed for a much better communication and transportation network between the empire.  The construction of canals also improved these sectors an allowed ships to travel easily across the empire.  These two strategies increased trade routes and boosted the economy, but also allowed for the empire to be better connected, thus more unified politically as well.
