Find the depth of the river at 9 hours and 18 hours by seeing where the line is on the Y axis.

At 9 hours the river is 18 feet deep

At 18 hours the river is 21 feet deep.

The average rate of change is the change in Y over the change in X

The Y is the depth and the X is the time:

(21-18) / (18-9) = 3/9 = 1/3 = 0.33

The average rate of change is 0.3 foot per hour. ( Rounded to nearest tenth)

Identify all of the following solutions of square root of x plus 14 end root plus 2 equals x.
BabaBlast [244]
\bf \sqrt{x+14}+2=x\implies \sqrt{x+14}=x-2\impliedby \textit{squaring both sides}
\\\\\\
(\sqrt{x+14})^2=(x-2)^2\implies x+14=x^2-4x+4
\\\\\\

\\\\\\
x=\cfrac{5\pm\sqrt{(-5)^2-4(1)(-10)}}{2(1)}\implies x=\cfrac{5\pm\sqrt{25+40}}{2}

x=\cfrac{5\pm \sqrt{65}}{2}\implies x=

Find the fifth term of a sequence whose first term is 8 and common ratio is 3/2
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

Option c. 81/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Fifth term: a5=?

First term: a1=8

Common ratio: r=3/2

an=a1*r^(n-1)

with n=5

a5=a1*r^(5-1)

a5=a1*r^4

Replacing the known values:

a5=8*(3/2)^4

a5=8*(3)^4/(2)^4

a5=8*81/16

Simplifying: Dividing the numerator and denominator by 8:

a5=(8*81/8)/(16/8)

a5=81/2

Answer: Option c. 81/2

Name a pair of overlapping congruent triangles in each diagram. State whether the triangles are congruent by SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS,
MariettaO [177]

Answer:

ΔPTS≅ΔRTA by AAS axiom of congruency

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider ΔPQA and ΔRQS

∠PQA=∠RQS     (Vertically Opposite Angles)

∠QAP=∠QSR     (Complementary of two equal angles, ∠RAT and∠PST)

Due to angle sum property of a triangle, we come to the conclusion that

∠APQ=∠SRQ

Consider ΔPTS and ΔRTA

TA=TS  (Given)

∠RAT=∠PST(Given)

∠APQ=∠SRQ (Proved above)

Therefore, ΔPTS≅ΔRTA by AAS axiom of congruency.
