A possible reason for the decline could be a decrease in the available water. The basic nutrient of plants is water, as the substance that they use to live are made of substance in water plus solar energy. If one of these two factors experiments a decline, this could be a reason for the decline of plant as well. Obviously the decline of plants then will have a multitudine of other effects on the ecosystem.

Describe what would happen if we removed all the plants from a food chain
vichka [17]
Well If You Removed All The Plants From A Food Chain Then The Plant Would Either Adapt To New Changes And Thrive if You Move it Or If It Goes Extinct Then Well It Of Course Won't Survive And All Herbivores That Eat That Plant Would Either Have To Adapt And Find A New Food Source Or They Would Starve And Die And That Would Leave The Carnivores To Have To Leave Or Start Find New Prey Or They Too Will Die.

What is the relationship between matter and energy in an ecosystem.
tangare [24]

Answer:

As energy moves through an ecosystem, it changes form, but no new energy is created. Similarly, as matter cycles within an ecosystem, atoms are rearranged into various molecules, but no new matter is created. So, during all ecosystem processes, energy and matter are conserved
