The evidence of the risk for mass wasting and coastal erosion might include the following indicators:

Talus piles or large boulders at the base of a slope: The piling of small rock fragment would be due to continued erosion that was once present on the slope that has formed lately.

Telephone poles or trees tilted at an angle: These might indicate that the ground as the base is undergoing settling.

If a beach house, artificial structures such as jetties or seawalls: These would mean that there is an apparent erosion going on and the seawalls and jetties are to protect the base of the beach house from eroding.

What ideas brought a renewed interest to the idea of continental drift?
aleksley [76]

Continental drift is the geological phenomenon in which continents move. These movements at speeds of a few centimeters per year can actually be measured since the advent of satellite geodesy. The movement of continents is caused by plate tectonics.

Alfred Wegener noted at the beginning of the 20th century that the edges of some continents (particularly South America and Africa) are similar in shape, concluding that the continents were connected and separated before. The problem was that it was not known how huge land masses could move across the Earth's surface. Such a movement requires enormous power and it was not known where it came from.

Later it was known that, according to plate tectonics, the continents move as a result of convection currents in the mantle. They slowly move away from each other, bump into each other, slide under each other, or rub against each other. This causes various surface phenomena, such as earthquakes, volcanism, and slow changes, such as subsidence, mountain building and the displacement of continents.

Answer:

First-hand ethnographic fieldwork

Explanation:

Ethnography is the detailed account of a society and its culture by observing the social interactions that people have. This gives us an accurate description of a society and its culture as it not influenced by outside factors.

Here, Maria is studying the the lives of women in coffee farming communities in Brazil. She is observing them directly and making sure her presence does not influence their interactions. She is also doing this herself which means her research will not be affected by someone else's perspective.

Hence, she is using the strategy of first-hand ethnographic fieldwork.
