Suppose at a large university, 60% of the students have a Visa card and 40% of the students have a MasterCard. Also, 30% of the
Doss [256]

Answer:

0.6,0.7,0.3 neither disjoint nor independent.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that at a large university, 60% of the students have a Visa card and 40% of the students have a MasterCard.

A= visa card

B = Master card

P(A) = 0.60 and P(B) = 0.40

P(AUB)' = 0.30

i.e. P(AUB) = 0.70

Or P(A)+P(B)-P(AB) =0.70

P(AB)= 0.30

Randomly select a student from the university.

1) the probability that this student does not have a MasterCard.

= P(B') = 1-0.4 =0.6

2.  the probability that this student has either a Visa card or a MasterCard.

=P(AUB) = 0.70

3. Calculate the probability that this student has neither a Visa card nor a MasterCard.

=P(AUB)' = 0.30

4. Are the events A and B disjoint? Are the events A and B independent?

A and B have common prob 0.30 hence not disjoint.

P(AB) ≠P(A)P(B)

Hence not independent

On what interval is the function f(x)=x^3-4x^2+5x concave upward?
taurus [48]
Calculus 1?

To find concavity you must take the second derivative.

As you would to find your local maximums and minimums (critical points) in the first derivative by setting y' = 0, to find points of inflection you set acceleration, y" = 0.

Now that you know where the point in which the function is neither concave up or concave down (at the points of inflection) plug x-values between them into the second derivative for x.  If y" is positive between those particular points will be concave up and if y" is negative it will be concave down between that interval.

For a better understanding you might find a good video on Youtube explaining this if you search "Points of Inflections" or "Concavity of a function".

Cheers.

what are the answers to these? iv been stuck on the same question all day, it's literally 1 am and I still don't get it.
Mrac [35]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

When you add -4.5+4.4, you get -.1

so you need .1 to make the equation =0.

the only option is a. Add -6.7+6.8 to equal .1

Which of these statements describe properties of parallelograms? Check all that apply.
grigory [225]
The statements that best describe the properties of parallelograms are options A, C, D and E. Parallelograms are a quadrilateral where diagonals bisect each other, opposite sides are parallel by definition, opposite sides are congruent and consecutive angles are supplementary.
