Self-affirmation
agasfer [191]

Answer:

Self-affirmation.

Explanation:

As Talia loves animals but still eats meat. When she experiences dissonance about the contradiction, she tells herself that she also volunteers her time at an animal shelter. This manner of reducing dissonance involves self-affirmation. As she eats meat and still loves animals as well, she is having certain cognitive dissonance, therefore, she tries to overcome that cognitive dissonance with the help of self-affirmation process. Cognitive dissonance is the process where one person feels certain mental discomfort by having two opposite and contradicting ideas and thoughts. For example, when one person smokes ans also considers it as harmful for health as well. Same is the case here with Talia. Self-affirmation is the mechanism and process where an individual trues to calm down him or herself and adapts to their thoughts and situations which make them fearful by their own beliefs and ideas. This mechanism help people in adjusting their cognitive dissonance.
