April 12 was already a huge day in space history twenty years before the launch of the first shuttle mission. On that day in 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin<span> became the first human in space, making a 108-minute orbital flight in his Vostok 1 spacecraft.</span>
Yuri Gagarin was born near Moscow, Russic on March 9, 1934 and died on March 27, 1968. On April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel to sapce! The name of his spacecraft was <em>Vostok 1</em>. <em>Vostok 1 </em>had two sections. One section was for Yuri to live in. The second section was for supplies needed for Yuri to live such as oxygen and water. Alot of people say the first man in space is Alan Shepard but that is incorrect, he was the first american astronaut in space.
In total approximately 70% of incoming radiation is absorbed by the atmosphere and the Earth's surface while around 30% is reflected back to space and does not heat the surface.
It is called the Caspian Sea, and it is the largest inland water body. It covers 143,200 square miles and it is bordered by Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.
