Given: Your heart beats 65 times in one minute. There are 60 minutes in one hour and 24 hours in a day.

Use the given information to set up your equation (let the variable be x):

1) Find out how many minutes there are in a day through a proportion equation:

60 minutes = 1 hour

x minutes = 24 hours

Multiply 60 by 24 and divide it by 1 to find out how many minutes are in 24 hours (1 day). The answer will give you 1440 minutes.

2) Set up another proportion equation to find out how many times your heart beats in a day.

65 times = 1 minute

x times = 1440 minutes

Remember that 1440 minutes = 24 hours = 1 day. So, multiply 65 by 1440 and divide it by 1 to find out how many times your heart beats in a day.

Answer = Your heart beats 93,600 times a day.

There are different ways to do this problem; this is just one way!

\dfrac{65\,beats}{min}\cdot\dfrac{60\,min}{1\,h}\cdot\dfrac{24\,h}{1\,day}=\dfrac{65\cdot 60\cdot 24\,beats}{day}\\\\=\bf{93600\,\dfrac{beats}{day}}

Eddi Din [679]
By either long or synthetic division, it's easy to show that

\dfrac{x^4+ax^3+bx^2+cx+d}{x+1}=x^3+(a-1)x^2+(-a+b+1)x+(a-b+c-1)-\dfrac{a-b+c-d-1}{x+1}

The quartic will be exactly divisible by x+1 when the numerator of the remainder term vanishes, or for those values of a,b,c,d such that

a-b+c-d-1=0

I'm not sure how to count the number of solutions (software tells me it should be 80), but hopefully this is a helpful push in the right direction.

Since the two lines are parallel then they have the same slope which = 1/3

since the line passes through (-6 , -8)

y+8 = (1/3)(x+6)
