When water flows across farm land, some soil is washed away, resulting in erosion. An experiment was conducted to investigate th

e effect of the rate of water flow (liters per second) on the amount of soil (kilograms) washed away. The data are given in the following table.Flow Rate: .31 .85 1.26 2.47 3.75Eroded soil: .82 1.95 2.18 3.01 6.07The association between flow rate and amount of eroded soil is:A. negativeB. impossible to determine because both variables are categoricalC. neither postive nor negativeD. positive

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

\left[\begin{array}{cc}Flow Rate&Eroded Soil\\0.31&0.82\\0.85&1.95\\1.26&2.18\\2.47&3.01\\3.75&6.07\end{array}\right]

As we can see, as flow rate increases, eroded soil also increases.  So the association is positive.

What is 45% of 432? and how?
mr Goodwill [35]
1. We assume, that the number 432 is 100% - because it's the output value of the task.
<span>2. We assume, that x is the value we are looking for. </span>
<span>3. If 432 is 100%, so we can write it down as 432=100%. </span>
<span>4. We know, that x is 45% of the output value, so we can write it down as x=45%. </span>
5. Now we have two simple equations:
1) 432=100%
2) x=45%
where left sides of both of them have the same units, and both right sides have the same units, so we can do something like that:
432/x=100%/45%
6. Now we just have to solve the simple equation, and we will get the solution we are looking for.

7. Solution for what is 45% of 432

432/x=100/45
<span>(432/x)*x=(100/45)*x       - </span>we multiply both sides of the equation by x
<span>432=2.22222222222*x       - </span>we divide both sides of the equation by (2.22222222222) to get x
<span>432/2.22222222222=x </span>
<span>194.4=x </span>
x=194.4

<span>now we have: </span>
<span>45% of 432=194.4</span>

What are these four? 3, 3, 4, and 4??
Leokris [45]

For 4. (Apples to balloons) it is really simple. All you have to do is count the amount of balloons and apples and turn into a ratio, which is a basically a fraction. The answer for that would be 4:2

For the other 4, im not sure what the answer is as i cant really see it that well.

3 and 3 are pretty easy too. All you need to do is find a common factor. For the first number 3, 6 and 8 can both be divided by 2. The will turn it in 3/4, which is as simple as the number can get. The next one can also be divided by 2, which will turn it into 5/7. Once again, this is as simple as it can get.

Answers:

3. 3/4

3. 5/7

4. ? (couldn't see it)

4. 4:2

Is 10−−√ greater than, less than, or equal to 5? Use the drop-down menus to explain your answer. Because 10 lies between two con
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

\sqrt{10} < 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

\sqrt{10} ___ 5

Required

Fill in the gap

First, we need to solve \sqrt{10}

\sqrt{10}= 3.162

So:

\sqrt{10} ___ 5

becomes

3.162 ___ 5

3.162 lies between 3 and 4

So, we can say that

\sqrt{10} lies between 3 and 4

Since:

3.162 is less than 5, the gap can be filled with <.

So, we have: 3.162 < 5
