The piece of plywood is a square, 10 inches on each side.
Its area is (10 x 10) = 100 square inches.

You can cut a circle out of it with any size you want, as long as
the diameter of the circle is not more than 10 inches.  You didn't
tell us what size circle, so I'll assume that you cut out the biggest
possible circle.

Diameter = 10 inches
Radius = 5 inches

Area of any circle is (pi) x (radius)²

           Area = (pi) x (5)²

           Area = (pi) x (25) = <em>78.5 square inches</em> .

The rest of the plywood is scrap.

You discard  (100 - 78.5) = <em>21.5 square inches</em>.

(By the way ... you cut out a disk, not a circle.)

PLEASE HELP!! I don't understand rate of change so please include a bit of an explaination.
MrRa [10]

Answer:

the rate of change is 4.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is 4 because to find the rate of change you need to see how many pieces of corn (y) there are for every serving (x). If you see if you plug in the number three in between 2 and 4 for the servings and you follow the pattern of the table you will get 12. Then you subtract 8 from 12 and you get 4.

so basically the rate of change is the difference in corn for every serving.

At Central High School, the following probabilities have been determined.
yuradex [85]

Answer:

The expression is \frac{h}{g}

Step-by-step explanation:

Define the following events:

A: The student is enrolled in a foreign language class,

B: The student is enrolled in a technology class

We are given that P(A) = f, P(B) = g, P(A\cap B) = h

Recall the definition of conditional probability: Let A, B be sets if P(B)>0, then, the probability of A given B is given by the expression

P(A|B) = \frac{P(A\cap B)}{P(B)}

So, using this, we are asked for the probability P(A|B) which is

P(A|B) = \frac{P(A\cap B)}{P(B)} = \frac{h}{g}

He purchased $12.00 worth of lemons and $4.00 worth of glasses to make the lemonade.
Allushta [10]

Answer:

<em>The minimum number of glasses of lemonade is 70</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Equations</u>

With the data provided, we can build a model for the profit that Michael gets for selling lemonade.

First, we set up the cost function. He purchased $12 in lemons and $4 in glasses. It makes a fixed cost of $16. He also spends $0.02 per glass of lemonade fot the sugar. Being x the number of glasses of lemonade Michael sells, the total cost is modeled by

C(x)=16+0.02x

The revenue for selling x glasses of lemonade is

R(x)=0.25x

The profit is

P(x)=R(x)-C(x)=0.25x-(16+0.02x)

P(x)=0.23x-16

To make profits:

0.23x-16>0

Solving for x

x>16/0.23

x>69.6

Since x must be an integer

The minimum number of glasses of lemonade is 70
