Read this student’s rough draft. As the climbers approached the Cedar Plateau, their energy waned. They had been hiking for thre

e hours, navigating treacherous rocky passes and steep ascents. So far, the view had consisted of low-hanging branches and the backpacks of fellow climbers. They stopped for a quick drink of water and consulted their maps. “It’s less than a quarter mile more,” their leader declared. Minutes later, a cheer erupted from the hikers at the front of the pack. As they reached the top, everyone celebrated. What sentence would best add descriptive details to the end of this paragraph? A vista of autumn treetops spread below the hikers, illuminating the valley in orange and gold. The group consisted of fourteen hikers, and none of them had ever completed such a challenging climb. This would be the site for their campout, so many began scouting for firewood and tent sites. The mountain lookout was a local favorite, named Cedar Plateau because of the town’s abundant cedar trees.

The correct answer is B. In the whole excerpt, the writer describes the climbers and how they had no energy but still made it on top. Answer B is the only answer that describes the climbers.

I think the answer is 'B' because even though it is the Declaration of Independence it should still be flexible for everyone not just a few certain people.
