2(-2x+4)= -6x+12. ---> -4x+8= -6x+12 ---> combine like terms so +4x to -6x to get 8= -2x+12 ---> -12 on both sides to get -4= -2x --> divide both sides by -2 to get 2= x

Terrance claims that for the input coordinates (x, y), a rotation of 180° clockwise about the origin, followed by a reflection o
vodka [1.7K]

Answer:

Terrance is incorect.

Correct output coordinates (-y,-x)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let (x,y) be the input coordinates.

First translation is a rotation of 180° clockwise about the origin. This translation has a rule

(x,y)\rightarrow (-x,-y)

Second translation is a reflection over the line y = x. The general rule for the reflection across the line y=x has the rule

(a,b)\rightarrow (b,a)

When a sequence of two translations are applied to the initial input coordinates, then

(x,y)\rightarrow (-x,-y)\rightarrow (-y,-x)

As you can see Terrance made a mistake and these two transformations do not cancel themselves out.

Carpenter Chalberg is building a new wall in his house. The wall is 8 feet long and 8 feet tall. The wall will be framed with wo

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  9

Step-by-step explanation:

For studs 16" O.C., Chalberg will need 9: one at the beginning of each of the 16" spaces in the 96" width of the wall, and one at the end. That's a total of 6+1 = 7 studs.

The top and bottom edges of the wall are each 8', so will require 1 more board each.

The total number of boards Chalberg needs is 9.

Find the best linear equation for the ordered pairs below.
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

  y = -.075x +4.89

Step-by-step explanation:

The data set has almost no net slope, so the first equation is the most appropriate. (An absolute value function would be a much better fit.)

  y = -.075x +4.89
