There are several primary sources that you might use, here are a few examples:
A diary written by a soldier during a battle.
Medical records of war doctors from the battle.
newspaper clippings about the battle (and published at the time of the battle).
Speeches of famous generals from the battle.

The author creates suspense in "The Pit and The Pendulum" by having graphic descriptions of the scenery, the items of torture and the thoughts of the main character. We experience what is happening in the story through the main character's eyes so you can feel his fear, which in return creates suspense because you don't know what will happen next.

Answer:
D
Explanation:
A, incorrect as it's is obvious people would recognize a car, whether or not they own one, NYC citizens would see one on a day to day basis.
B, incorrect as not showing the make and model of the car does not prevent the focus of the question getting across to the reader.
C, also incorrect, the point is still clear, whether we know what type of public transport is used or not.
D, correct, the image of the car does NOT relate to the topic of public transport, as and example of this would be a yellow cab or a bus, not a car that has no clear labelling to be public, ie Uber.
