Why did the child felt both fascinated and repelled by the fair?

What I’m assuming from this is that it’s from a boom which I have no idea what it is but I’ll give you this answer based on logic or just in general.

The child would be fascinated by the bright and colorful lights and the setting of the fair, it’s loud, the smell would be excited if it’s cotton candy or churros and entertainment is all around by doing those “win a prize” thing but the child will also feel repelled if the rides seem to be scary like the loop de loop ride or the song by spongebob when he’s learning how he tied his shoes at the end and shows him making a literally loop in a shoe that is suppose to represent a roller coaster, the child can be scared of the entertainment like if there is a clown or mascot that seemed to be scary and last but not least if the child is lost and doesn’t know where his/her parents are
