Find all real numbers $s$ such that $-2(s - 7) > 4s + 8$. Give your answer in interval notation.
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

s\in (-\infty,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve the inequality -2(s - 7) > 4s + 8

Use distributive property:

-2s+14>4s+8

Subtract 4s:

-2s+14-4s>4s+8-4s\\ \\-6s+14>8

Subtract 14:

-6s+14-14>8-14\\ \\-6s>-6

Divide by -6 (do not forget to change sign, because division by negative number changes the sign):

s

Amanda leaned a 15-foot ladder against the top of her house so she could get on the roof, which is 12 feet from the ground.
valentinak56 [21]

If you're trying to find the missing side of the "triangle" (the distance from the house to where the ladder touches the ground), you would use the pythagorean theorem, a²+b²=c². (c is always hypotenuse)

a²+b²=c²

12²+b²=15²

144+b²=225

b²=81

√b²=√81

b=9

Please someone help me and explain this question to me (the last question starting with a straw)
Anastasy [175]

Each straw is  4-1/8 inches long.
You have one gigantic piece of straw material, 123-3/4 inches long.
How many straws can you cut it up to make ?

 ===>                    (123-3/4)  divided by  (4-1/8)            straws.

Each one costs  $0.015  to make.
So, once you find the number of short straws you have,
multiply

===>                 (the number of short straws) x ($0.015) .

That'll tell you how much it costs to make all of them.

Now you know how to do it on your own.
If you don't get  30 straws  and  $0.45 , please try again.
