Answer:

The comparison of Romanticism with the movement that immediately preceded it may present relationships that help to better understand the difference of one style and another.

Obviously this exercise does not mean to put Romanticism in opposition to Neoclassicism, because many characteristics, in the moments of transition, are common to both schools.

In Neoclassicism there is a predominance of reason, a cult of classical forms, an attachment to mythology, a mimetic (imitation) aspect of nature. Romanticism is more emotional, less attached to universal issues and more linked to the valorization of the self (subjectivism).

Neoclassicism and romanticism are often considered to be opposing movements. The main difference between neoclassicism and romanticism is that neoclassicism emphasized on objectivity, order, and restraint whereas romanticism emphasized on imagination and emotion.

Serhud [2]
Catharsis, was a therapeutical technique from Sigmund Freud in which a person is asked to speak everything he feels and thinks without filter to the therapist. It is effective in the sense that a person will be able to tell everything he wants to, this give him a feeling of “relief” since this thoughts and feelings bothers him so much. The technique will not be useful unless the person is discounted by the therapist when sharing. And since the person is only asked to tell everything, he would not know how to manage his problem.
