Can someone just explain to me how to use distributive properties with exponents? Just any example would be fine

2x(x - 5) + 3(x - 5) (rewriting expression) 
2x(x) - 2x(5) + 3(x) - 3(5) (applying distributive property) 
2x^2 - 10x + 3x - 15 (simplifying) 
2x^2 - 7x - 15 (combining like terms)
