The boxplot below shows salaries for CPAs and Actuaries in a town. 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 Salary (thousands of $) Actuary CPA

If a person is making the median salary for a CPA, his earning is equivalent to the salary for an Actuaries, and he is making less than % of Actuaries.

Answer: 75%

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to answer this question, we have to know the meaning of a box plot. Boxplots are especially useful in statistical analysis and gives us a meaningful range of values. A box plot consists of 2 shapes, which are the box part and the extended lines. The short sides of the  box and the vertical line in the middle of the box represent a certain percentage of the values. The vertical line in the boxplot is the median of your dataset. For example, according to the shape given in the question, the median value for CPA's is 50 and this is closer to the left side of the box. This means that the first half ogf the dataset (when ranked from the smallest to the greatest) is closer to each other. The sides of the box represent the values at the 25% and 75% of the values respectfully.

For example, if we have 100 values, we rank them in order and the 25th value corresponds to the left side of the boxplot (named first quartile), 50th value (which is also the median)  corresponds the vertical line in the box and and the 75the value corresponds to the right side of the box (named third quartile).

The extended arms are calculated as accordingly: IQR=(3rd quartile value-1st quartile value). Left extended arm is first quartile-1.5*IQR and right extended arm is third quartile+1.5*IQR. However, this information is not directly related to this question.

Now, this question should seem simpler. The median salary of CPA is 50 and this is equal to left side of the Actuary boxplot, which corresponds to the 25% of actuaries. As a result, CPA median salary is less than 75% of the Actuaries (100%-25%).

A team won 8 of the 24 games it played in one season .what percentage of the games did it win
Bond [772]

Answer:

The team won 33.33% of their games.

Step-by-step explanation:

Proportion and percentage of games won:

The proportion of games won is the number of games won divided by the total number of games.

The percentage of games won is the proportion multiplied by 100.

We have that:

8 wins in 24 games.

So

8/24 = 0.3333

0.3333*100 = 33.33%

The team won 33.33% of their games.

A biologist is developing two new strains of bacteria. Each sample of Type 1 bacteria produces four new viable bacteria, and eac
gayaneshka [121]

The cost can be optimized by using a Linear Programming given the  linear constraint system

  • To minimize the cost, the biologist should use <u>60 samples of Type I</u> bacteria and <u>0 samples of Type II</u> bacteria

Reason:

Let <em>X</em> represent Type 1 bacteria, and let <em>Y</em>, represent Type II bacteria, we have;

The constraints are;

4·X + 3·Y ≥ 240

20 ≤ X ≤ 60

Y ≤ 70

P = 5·X + 7·Y

Solving the inequality gives;

4·X + 3·Y ≥ 240

  • Y \geq 80 - \dfrac{4}{3} \cdot X (Equation for the inequality graphs)

The boundary of the feasible region are;

(20, 70)

(20, 53.\overline 3)

(60, 0)

(60, 70)

The cost are ;

\begin{array}{|c|c|c|}X&Y&P= 5\times X + 7 \times Y\\20&70&590\\20&53.\overline 3&473.\overline 3\\60&0&300\\60&70&790\end{array}\right]

  • Therefore, the minimum cost of $300 is obtained by using <u>60 samples of Type I</u> and <u>0 samples of Type II</u>

Each year Lizzie's school purchases student agenda books, which are sold in the school store. This year, the school purchased 35
lana [24]
Divide $1,137.50 by 350 to see out how much each book costs. Then divide $1,500 by 350 to see how much the school should add to the price of each agenda book to make the total profit. So the answer should be: (1137.50/350)+(1500/350) = minimum price

Haley randomly chooses a gumball out of a container containing 9 cherry gumballs and 3 chocolate gumballs. She places the gumbal
MrMuchimi

Answer: 8.3%

Step-by-step explanation: we use the formula 1/12x100 to give us 8.3 % and then for chocolate we do the same to get the same percentage 8.3%. so the probability that haley chooses a cherry gumball and then a chocolate gumball is 8.3%.

The given graphs show functions which have been transformed from the quadratic parent, f(x) = x2. Determine which transformation
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

The tansformations of were applied to the quadratic parent function to result in each graph are g(x), h(x) and d(x) with translation

Further explanation

Transformations definition is it involved by taking a preimage and transforming it in some way to produce an image.

Mathematical transformations have four main types: translation, rotation, reflection and dilation

Rotation is done by rotating an object about a fixed point without changing its size or shape

Translation is done by moving an object in space without changing its size, shape or orientation

Dilation is done by expanding or contracting an object without changing its shape or orientation

Reflection is done by flipping an object across a line without changing its size or shape

The given graphs show functions which have been transformed from the quadratic parent, f(x) = x^2f(x)=x

2

Which transformations were applied to the quadratic parent function to result in each graph?

Quadratic parent: f(x)=x^2f(x)=x

2

The graph is a parabola with V=(0,0)V=(0,0) at the origin

If x=1x=1 then f(1)=1^2 = 1f(1)=1

2

=1

Vertical shift means shifting in y axis. Whereas horizontal shift means shifting in x axis. Shift down means go to lower value of axis, whereas shift left goes to higher value of axis

For g(x)g(x) : vertical shift down 3 and horizontal shift left 3

For h(x)h(x) : reflection across the x-axis and vertical strecht of 3
