Answer:

Cause the Natives had died off. They needed slaves to do the labor of farming, so the transatlantic slave trade/the middle passage began.

Explanation: Afterwards comes about 300+ years of the most repulsive and inhumane trade possible. People are taken from their homes and treated as property. Most would die before they'd make the journey. 3-4months of grueling terror and anguish. It's something no one should bear or learn about, yet here we are, looking back into the dark past of the middle passage. It's a mistake that society might make again, and it's sad how true it is.

Modern machinery did all but one of the following things.
lozanna [386]

The answer is A. Drove production costs up. It drove production costs down, because they were able to take less time to make the products as well as less materials because 1) standardized parts were invented around the same time, and 2) they didn't have people preparing everything so materials weren't wasted.

Why was there conflict between the northern states and the southern states over making California a free state
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

Explanation:

The Compromise of 1850 acted as a temporary truce on the issue of slavery, primarily addressing the status of newly acquired territory after the Mexican-American War.

Under the Compromise, California was admitted to the Union as a free state; the slave trade was outlawed in Washington, D.C., a strict new Fugitive Slave Act compelled citizens of free states to assist in capturing enslaved people; and the new territories of Utah and New Mexico would permit white residents to decide whether to allow slavery.

Ultimately, the Compromise did not resolve the issue of slavery’s expansion; instead, the fiery rhetoric surrounding the Compromise further polarized the North and the South.
