Marital satisfaction is a sense of happiness, satisfaction and stability in marriage. It is an instrument for accessing the success of marriage and it is define by joy the husband and wife experience.

Several factors affect marital satisfaction and this include age of marriage, marriage duration, personality, family, ones perspective and thinking e.t.c.

As couples grow older, there is decrease in marital satisfaction and this is one of the reason why there is divorced among middle aged couples.

This decrease in marital satisfaction can be as a result of child bearing and increased responsibilities of catering for the children. In older age as children leave home, there is increase in marital satisfaction because there is decrease in financial responsibilities.
