A pioneer species is a hardy plant species that, after a damaging event like a fire or flood, is the first to grow and colonize that ecosystem.
They 'set the stage' for other plants, resulting in a greater biodiversity than before the event.
Usually, a pioneer species is a lichen, bacteria or fungi.

I hope this helps! Can I have Brainliest, please? :)
