We need to solve the system of equations here.

Our main objective is to remove one of the variables.

To do so we can multiply the second equation by 2 and get 2x+4y=-8

Then we can subtract our new equation from the earlier one and get -5y=21

thus we know y=-21/5=-4.2

we plug that back into the equation and find x

2x-(-4.2*3)=13

2x=25.6

x= 12.8

so the solution is 12.8,-4.2

2x - 3y = 13 (1st)

x + 2y = -4 (2nd)

Use the linear combination method

Multiply second equation by (-2)

(-2) (x + 2y) = -4 * (-2)

-2x - 4y = 8

Now you have:

2x - 3y = 13 (1st)

-2x - 4y = 8 (2nd)

------------------------------addition property

-7y = 21

y = -3

Substitute y = -3 into x + 2y = -4

x + 2(-3) = -4

x - 6 = -4

x = 2

Answer

Solution: x = 2 and y = -3 or (2 , -3)

Hope it helps

Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

n = 5.5

Step-by-step explanation:

4n - 10 = 12

       4n = 12 + 10

       4n = 22

          n = 22/4

Lamar works as a tutor for $7 an hour and as a waiter for $8 an hour . this month he worked a combined total of 92 hours at his
ira [324]

t is the number of hours Lamar worked as a tutor
We know that he worked for 92 hours total, so he worked 92-t hours as a waiter.

So his earnings are: 7t + 8(92-t) = 736 -t dollars

This expression seems logical as if Lamar worked 0 hours as a tutor and 92 as a waiter his earnings would be 8*92 = 736
If he worked as a tutor for 92 hours it would be 7*92= 644
736-92= 644
So our expression seems to be working.
