Answer:

4 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to solve this problem we just have to remember the formula for the area of the rectangle:

A=L*W

Now we have to represent the values for width and lenth, we are going to use X for the width, and if the length is twice as much the width and is one foot more it will be represented by: 2x+1

So if we put the values into the formula we get an equation:

A=(x)(x+1)\\A=x^{2} +x\\36=x^{2} +x\\x^{2} +x-36=0

Now that we have our equation we can solve by factorizing it:

x^{2}+x-36=0\\ (x+9)(x-4)=0

Once we have the two factors we just equalize them to 0

And solve it for (x-4):

x-4=0\\x=4

So the width of the rectangle is 4 and the length is 9.

Find the sum of three consecutive odd integers where x is the greatest integer
myrzilka [38]
X + (x − 2) + (x − 4) = ? ;  In which
<span>
x + x </span>− 2 + x − 4 ;

Combine the "like terms" ;

  x + x + x = 3x ;

  − 2 − 4  =  −6 ;

So we have:  "3x  − 6" as the sum. ;
___________________________
The sum of three consecutive odd integers, in which "x" is the greatest integer;  is:  "3x − 6" .
_____________________________________________
Note:  The three consecutive odd integers, from least to greatest, are:

"(x − 4)" , "(x − 2)" , and "x" .

The sum is:  "(3x  − 6)<span>" .
</span>_____________________________________________
Note:  "(3x  − 6)" factors into:  " 3(x −2)" .

Note that:  " (x − 2) " is the second integer.
______________________________________________
So the sum total, which is:  "(3x  −  6)" ;  is 3 (three) times the value of the second integer; that is, "3 (x − 2)" .
