She bought 1 and 1/10 yards of ribbon. You get this answer if you convert the two measurements to have a common denominator. The lowest common denominator is 10.
You have to convert 3/5 yards to 6/10 yards. You convert 1/2 yards to 5/10 yards.
Then you add the two new measurements.
6/10 plus 5/10 equals 11/10 or 1 1/10
