Answer:

The answer to your question is  (x + 2)² = 1/2(y - 5)  or x² + 4x - 1/2 + 13/2 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

V (-2, 5)

P(-1, 7)

Process

1.- Plot the points to determine the type of parabola

It is an upward vertical parabola

2.- Use the formula to find the equation

         (x - h)² = 4p(y - k)

- Find p, substitute the point and vertex in the equation

         (-1 +2)² = 4p(7 - 5)

                1² = 4p(2)

                1 = 8p

                p = 1/8

- Find the equation of the parabola

         (x + 2)² = 4(1/8)(y - 5)

        (x + 2)² = 1/2(y - 5)

- Find the general equation

          x² + 4x + 4 = 1/2y - 5/2

equal to zero

          x² + 4x - 1/2y + 4 + 5/2 = 0

         x² + 4x - 1/2 + 13/2 = 0

A quadratic equation is given to us. And we need to plot its graph . Firstly we will make a table . For that substitute different values of x to get different values of y . For graph refer to attachment.

• Here's the table .

\boxed{\begin{array}{c|c} \underline{\red{\bf{ x}}}&\underline{\red{\bf y}}\\\\ \sf 1 &\sf 0 \\\\\sf 0 & \sf 1 \\\\\sf 2 &\sf 1 \\\\\sf -2 &\sf 9 \end{array}}

Sum of two digit number is9.When we interchange the digits it is found that the resulting new number becomes twice the other num
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

4 and 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numbers be x and y

If their sum is 9, hence;

x + y = 9 ....1

When reversed

10y+x = 2(10x+y)

10y+x = 20x + 2y

10y - 2y = 20x - x

8y = 19x

y = 10x/8 ...2

Substitute equation 2 into 1;

From 1;

x+y = 9

x +(10x/8) = 9

18x/8 = 9

18x = 72

x = 72/18

x = 4

Since x+y =9

y = 9-x

y =9-4

y = 5

Hence the numbers are 4 and 5
