Answer:

2020: A lethal chemical has leaked into most of the world's water supply and people who drink it are killed by the poison. So, the survivors have to adapt.

2030: A protagonist (you name) has to travel the globe in search of safe water, which is only in hard to reach places that are very far away, because if he doesn't he will die of dehydration, since his supply just ran out. However along the way, some ruffians who enjoy killing others with the water's effects stand in his way and attempt to kill him and those he travels with (The other travelers are optional) And manage to capture and kill a few. So, with them hot on his trail, he has to think fast, or die by that hands of the lethal toxin that lies within the water. (If this wont work then I can do another)
