Molds and kelp belong to the Protista kingdom that contains eukaryotic organisms. Those organisms can be either multicelled (kelp, slime molds, red algae) or single-celled (Paramecium). Among multicelled protozoans, kelp and slime molds are similar because they aggregate into colonies.
