It crushed the German economy and it got Germany in so much debt that it got to a point where Germany had nothing to lose and everything to gain if they went to war with everyone in Europe. Not only that it split the country into two which angered may germans and only added to the spark of the powderkeg that was Europe.

But we also saw the rise of sweatshops which were very bad in terms of working conditions and pay.
Oil was also found which help with making cars but the left overs from oil were also used in medicine, train tracks etc...
