The purpose of chitinous cuticle serve in an earthworm is to prevent the worm from dehydration and also provides protection. Cuticle is a thin, non-cellular coating on the surface that prevents dehydration and provides protection. The cuticle also allow oxygen to pass into the coelomic fluid and blood of the worm. It protects the worm from drying out and also protects the epidermis from abrasion from soil particles.

diamong [38]
DNA replication is the production of identical DNA helices from a single double-stranded DNA molecule. Each molecule consists of a strand from the original molecule and a newly formed strand. Prior to replication, the DNA uncoils and strands separate. A replication fork is formed which serves as a template for replication. Primers bind to the DNA and DNA polymerases add new nucleotide sequences in the 5′ to 3′ direction. This addition is continuous in the leading strand and fragmented in the lagging strand. Once elongation of the DNA strands is complete, the strands are checked for errors, repairs are made and telomere sequences are added to the ends of the DNA.

Putting the gene for bioluminescence in fish an an example of
Ronch [10]

Scientists have isolated the gene that produces the bioluminescence protein and inserted the gene into the embryos of tetra fish. This results in tetra fish that produce a green glow.

How, support your answer?

Tetra fish is a type or an example Glofish that has undergone genetic modifications whereby the gene in jelly fish that produces the green fluorescent protein (GFP) was extracted and inserted into the embryos of the tetra fish thereby causing them to glow or fluoresce in the presence of Ultraviolet light or natural light.

The genetically modified tetra fish passes this fluorescent gene from one generation to another.

Thus, The aim of this genetic modification in tetra fish was to be able to detect water pollution in the sea using the glow of the tetra fish.
