Answer:

The small square has a 6cm side; the larger square has a 8cm side.

Step-by-step explanation:

Set up an equation that uses the given facts and common knowledge:

The area of a square is the length of the side times itself, that is "squared"!

You have 2 different squares; their total area is 100.

Use x to be the side of Square 1, and x+2 for the square that has 2cm longer sides. Here's the equation:

x^{2} + (x +2)^{2} = 100   Expand then recombine

x^{2} +x^{2} +4x +4 = 100

2x^{2} + 4x +4 = 100   becomes 2x^{2} + 4x = 96 divide by 2 to simplify and then=0

x^{2} +2x -48 = 0    Now factor that.

(x+8)(x-6) = 0  Set each factor to equal zero and solve for x.

x + 8 = 0    x - 6 = 0

x= -8     x= 6     Squares don't have negative sides, so use the +6.

Back to square 1 ! !         6^{2} = 36

now 6+2 for square 2:   8^{2} = 64

36 + 64 = 100  TRUE!

Answer:

1, 4/5,2/5

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 5x

Let y = 5

5 = 5x

Divide by 5

5/5 =5x/5

1=x

Let y=4

4 =5x

Divide by 5

4/5 =5x/5

4/5 =x

Let y=2

2 =5x

Divide by 5

2/5 =5x/5

2/5 =x

Anybody can help me with this question please
lord [1]

Answer:

2 cookies per dollar

Step-by-step explanation:

You can take any point on the line, turn it into a fraction and simplify.

For example: 4 cookies cost $2.

4 cookies per 2 dollar is 2 cookies per 1 dollar (divide by 2)

If you take another point, e.g., 14 cookies for 7 dollar, you'll be dividing by 7 to simplify and get the same answer.

kobusy [5.1K]

Answer:

Option d

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that television networks frequently run public opinion polls on issues of concern. One network conducted a scientific poll asking a question concerning the approval rating of the way President Obama was handling the Iraq War. At about the same time a second network ran an online poll using a very similar question.

Observed data is

Poll              Scien      Online total

approve    339   385      724

disapprove 780        573     1363

                 1119        958     2087

H_0: Both scientific and online are consistent\\H_a: not consistent

(Two tailed chi square test)

Let us find out expected and chi square

Expected = row total x column total/grand total

The cell count expected in the online poll for those who approve

=\frac{724*968}{2087} \\=333.94

chi square = 7.81

Hence option d is right.
