Find the area???????

Mathematics

It's obviously none of the above because the true area will have a square root of 3 in it because of the equilateral triangle. They want us to find the approximate area. When I was in school the difference between an approximation and the exact answer was greatly stressed but that seems to be fading of late.

That's a rectangle less an equilateral triangle. The area of an equilateral triangle is \dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4} s^2 which is easily derived but I won't bother here.

A = 18(8) - \dfrac{\sqrt 3}{4} (8^2) = 144 - 16 \sqrt 3 \approx 116.3

What is a / b (2x - 12) = c / d ; x ?
Alex17521 [72]

we are given

\frac{a}{b} (2x-12)=\frac{c}{d}

we can solve for x

We can isolate x

step-1: Multiply both sides by b/a

\frac{b}{a}*\frac{a}{b} (2x-12)=\frac{b}{a}*\frac{c}{d}

(2x-12)=\frac{bc}{ad}

step-2:Add 12 both sides

(2x-12)+12=\frac{bc}{ad}+12

2x=\frac{bc}{ad}+12

step-3: combine right side

2x=\frac{bc+12ad}{ad}

step-4:Divide both sides by 2

x=\frac{bc+12ad}{2ad}..............Answer

The diagram below shows an Isosceles triangle. Label the base angles and the vertex
Dmitry [639]

The base angles of an isosceles triangle are equal

The base angles are 15 degrees, while the vertex angle is 150 degrees

The base angles are given as:

Base = (6a- 3) and (a + 12)

So, we have:

\mathbf{6a -3 =a + 12}

Collect like terms

\mathbf{6a -a =3 + 12}

\mathbf{5a = 15}

Divide both sides by 5

\mathbf{a = 3}

Substitute 3 for a in Base = (6a- 3),

\mathbf{Base = 6 \times 3 - 3}

\mathbf{Base = 18 - 3}\\

\mathbf{Base = 15}

So, the base angle is 15 degrees.

The vertex angle is calculated using:

\mathbf{Vertex=180 -2 \times Base}

So, we have:

\mathbf{Vertex=180 -2 \times 15}

\mathbf{Vertex=150 }

Hence, the vertex angle is 150 degrees
