1) Answer:- Only Pauly is correct.

Solution:- In an atom, there is a nucleus in the center and the electrons are present around it in different shells. Neutrons and protons are present in the nucleus and the mass of the atom is mainly because of these neutrons and protons.

So, Mass number = number of protons + number of neutrons

Also, a neutral atom has equal number of protons and neutrons and atomic number is same as the number of protons.

So, atomic number = number of protons

Atomic number of the neutral atom of bromine is given as 35 and it has 45 neutrons.

So, mass number = 35 + 45 = 80

Jackie said, the atomic mass would be 45 which is not correct as the atomic mass is 80.

Pauly is correct as the proton and neutron both have a mass of about 1 and so the atomic mass of the bromine atom is around 80 as the sum of protons and neutrons is 80.

Sam is not correct as there are 35 protons and 35 electrons for the neutral bromine atom.

So, only the last option is correct, " Only Pauly is correct."

2) Answer:- 33 amu is the mass of the nucleus.

Solution:-  from given info, there are 15 protons and 18 neutrons.

Mass of nucleus = number of protons(mass of proton) + number of neutrons(mass of neutron)

Let's plug in the values in the formula:

mass of nucleus = 15(1.0073) + 18(1.0087)

mass of nucleus = 15.1095 + 18.1566

mass of nucleus = 33.2661 amu

If we round it off then it's 33 amu.

So, the last choice is correct. mass of nucleus is 33 amu.

An aqueous solution of orthophosphoric acid, H3PO4, has a measured density of 1.2089 g mL-1 and is 5.257 molal. The solution is
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

In one liter of solution, there are 4.194 moles of H₃PO₄

Explanation:

A molal solution contains 1 mole of solute in 1 Kg of solvent.

A  aqueous 5.257 molal solution of H₃PO₄ will contain 5.257 moles of  H₃PO₄ in 1 Kg or 1000 g of water .

Molar mass of H₃PO₄ = 98 g/mol

Therefore mass of H₃PO₄ = number of moles * molar mass

mass of H₃PO₄ = 5.257 mol * 98 g/mol = 515.2 g

mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent

mass of solution = 515.2 + 1000 = 1515.2 g

Volume of solution = mass of solution / density of solution

Volume of solution = 1515.2 / 1.2089 = 1253.4 mL

Molarity of solution = number of moles / volume (L)

Molarity of solution = 5.257 / 1.2534 L = 4.194 mol/L

Therefore, in one liter of solution, there are 4.194 moles of H₃PO₄

Naturally occurring copper is composed of 69.2% of 63Cu and 30.8% of 65Cu. Atoms of 63Cu have a mass of 62.9296 u and those of 6
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

The answer to your question is: 63.5 u

Explanation:

Data                  Percent                         Molecular mass

63 Cu               69.2%                             62.9296 u

65Cu                 30.8%                             64.9278 u

Average atomic mass = ?

Formula

Average atomic mass = (0.692 x 62.9296) + (0.308 x 64.9278)

                                     = 43.55 + 19.99

                                      = 63.5 u

H2O(g) → H2 + O2(g) Predict whether the reaction above would have an increase or a decrease in entropy.
nadya68 [22]
Since the reaction has one mole of reactants versus two moles of products, the reaction would have a decrease in entropy. One mole of gas exerts less pressure than two moles of gas, and therefore one mole of gas has more entropy than two moles of gas.

Hope this helps
