Answer:

The correct answer would be "yes, acidic environment decreases or deactivates the amylase enzyme".

Amylase refers to the class of enzymes which are involved in the hydrolysis of sugars (polysaccharides).

For example, salivary amylase and pancreatic amylase hydrolyze the starch into di and trisaccharides.

In addition, the amylase present in the human physiology (alpha amylase) has the optimum pH of 6.7-7.0 and thus, this amylase would get deactivated in acidic or low pH conditions.

This is why the pH of the intestine is slightly basic which complements the functioning of the pancreatic amylase.

The acidic medium can cause the denaturation of the enzyme and thus, results in the deactivation of the enzyme.

Masja [62]

The right answers are B, C and D.

An enzyme is a protein with catalytic properties. Virtually all biomolecules capable of catalyzing chemical reactions in cells are enzymes; some catalytic biomolecules, however, consist of RNA and are therefore distinct enzymes: they are ribozymes.

An enzyme acts by lowering the activation energy of a chemical reaction, which increases the rate of reaction.

Kamila [148]
The independent variable is the variable that is being changed in an experiment. It is also called the manipulated variable. In this case, it would be the amount of sunlight. The dependent variable would be the variable that is being studied. In this case it would be the length of sleep of the mice. The constants would be the variable that are supposed to have an effect on the dependent variable however it is held constant so as to clearly see the effect of the independent variable.

Question 4
lawyer [7]

Answer:

The principle is 4) Archimedes' principle.

Explanation:

Archimedes principle, found by the old Greek mathematician and creator Archimedes, expressing that any object totally or incompletely submerged in a liquid (gas or fluid) very still is followed up on by an upward, power the size of which is equivalent to the heaviness of the liquid dislodged by the body.

The volume of dislodged liquid is identical to the volume of an item completely drenched in a liquid or to that portion of the volume underneath the surface for an article halfway submerged in a fluid. The heaviness of the uprooted bit of the liquid is comparable to the extent of the buoyant force.
