How do pioneer species make ecological succession possible on an island formed from a volcanic eruptions
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

The correct option is 3. they break down rock into soil in which plants can grow

Explanation:

When a disaster is such huge that even the soil and organic matter get removed from the place, then the succession that will occur in such kind of place will be termed as primary succession. For example, a volcanic eruption or an earthquake.

On the other hand, if after a disaster some of the organic matter remains on the land, then the succession that will occur will be termed as secondary succession. E.g a succession after fire

In primary succession, the pioneer species will be plants that require less soil such as the lichens. The lichens will break down the rocks into the soil and eventually new species of plants will start to grow on the land.

Your patient has recently completed her first round of chemotherapy in the treatment of lung cancer. when reviewing this morning
dimaraw [331]

When there is myelosuppression, the suggestive finding is there is a decrease in the platelets and red blood cells. Also called the bone marrow suppression, myelosuppression is a common side effect of the treatment of chemotherapy. When this side effect happens, there is a decrease in the production of blood cells. The result which may be the effect of myelosuppression is a decrease in one, two or all three types of blood cells. Most patients of chemotherapy experience a decrease in red blood cells. Another effect is the decrease of white blood cells by most patients. Myelosuppression will be subcategorized as neutropenia when chemotherapy results to the reduction of neutrophils which is a specific type of white blood cells. Thrombocytopenia is the term for a drop in platelet numbers. This kind of suppression is not that common. Only 10 percent of cancer patients undergo the negative effects of this kind of suppression.

What role do proteins play in enabling the enormous amount of dna in a eukaryotic cell?
MAVERICK [17]
DNA is condensed by a certain amount just on its own, just by its own interactions within the DNA molecule,..but whne proteins get involved it gets condensed 30000 fold
what happens is that proteins called histones are like hockey pucks, and DNA wraps around it 1.5 times and then goes to another histone and wraps around that so that it looks like beads on a string (i hope that makes sense, its the only way to describe it)
these histones condense this DNA a lot, and when the histones get methylated then the DNA packs together even closer to get heterochromatin (VERY densely packed DNA)...the theory here is that DNA has a net negative charge due to the phosphate groups in the DNA backbone and doesnt allow the DNA to come together as closely as it could (like charges repel like charges), but when histones are methylated, the negative charge on the DNA is masked by the methyl groups and DNA can come together closer
