White moths were found in huge numbers in the English city of Birmingham. These moths could be easily camouflaged by the trees b

ecause white lichen covered the bark. Because of sudden industrial development, the city’s trees became covered with soot. How will this change affect the population of the white moth?

Now that white moths don't have good camouflage in the trees, which have become dark with soot and made the moths easier to be seen, this change would decrease the population of the white moth because more predators will be able to see and eat them.
