Answer:

        Just like sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks can be forced to the Earth's surface too. All this movement can cause rocks that were once underground to be brought up to the Earth's surface. This process is called uplift. Once exposed to the elements the rock on the Earth's surface begins to weather and erode.

An Allele is best described as:
stepladder [879]

An allele is best described as the alternative form of a gene.

<h3>What is an allele?</h3>

In genetics or cytology, an allele is one of a number of alternative forms of the same gene occupying a given position, or locus, on a chromosome.

Genes, according to Gregor Mendel, usually comes in pairs e.g. gene coding for height can be denoted by Tt. The allele represent a member of the gene that encodes a particular trait.

Therefore, an allele is best described as the alternative form of a gene.

What was Louis Agassiz's goal in founding the first marine laboratory in the United States?
ad-work [718]

Louis Agassiz established the first marine biology laboratory in the United States in order to help teachers at different levels to better capable themselves to teach natural history. He considered that learning from observations and first-hand analysis was perilous in attaining knowledge.

The laboratory was established in 1873 and was situated in Penikese Island that was situated just off the coast of Massachusetts. The school was called the Anderson Summer School of Natural History.

Compare the modern Cell Theory to the original Cell Theory
CaHeK987 [17]
The statements of the old cell theory are:
1. All organisms are composed of cells
2. The cell is the basic unit of life
3. Cells are produced from existing cells

The modern cell theory's statements are:
1. The cell contains hereditary information which is passed to daughter cells
2. All cells are basically the same in composition and activity
3. All basic functions occur in cells
4. Cell activities depend on intracellular structures

As is visible from the statements, the old cell theory was not as detailed and lacked the understanding of the function, structure and behavior of cells that the current theory possesses. This difference has come about after years of research, through which scientists understood the functions of cells and elaborated on the theory's statements.

A sound wave with intensity 1.6×10−3 W/m2 is perceived to be modestly loud. Your eardrum is 6.0 mm in diameter. How much energy
ziro4ka [17]

Answer:

Energy  transferred to eardrum while listening to this sound for 1.0 min is 2.713 * 10^{-6}

Explanation:

Given

Sound waves of intensity 1.6 * 10^{-3} \frac{W}{m^2}

Size of the ear drum i.e diameter  6.0 millimeter

Radius of the ear drum

= \frac{D}{2} \\= \frac{6}{2} \\= 3

Time for which the eardrum will listen to this sound = 1.0 minutes.

As we know that the energy transferred to eardrum can be calculated by using below given relation

E = I * A* t\\

Where is the energy in Joules

I is the intensity in \frac{W}{m^2}

A is the area in m^2

and t is the time in seconds

Substituting the given values in above equation we get

E = 1.6 * 10^{-3} * (\pi r^2)* 60\\E = 1.6 * 10^{-3} * (3.14 * (3*10^{-3})^2)* 60\\E = 2.713 * 10^{-6}\\

Energy  transferred to eardrum while listening to this sound for 1.0 min is 2.713 * 10^{-6}
