Why did the U.S follow a policy of imperialism?

History

Answer:There are a number of reasons. First of all, American businesses looked for new markets abroad, and so some kind of imperial policy was thought necessary to achieve this goal. European colonial powers such as Great Britain and France had pursued such a policy for many years with much success; and as the American economy was rapidly becoming the world's largest, there was a certain logic to the United States emulating their example.

With growing economic power went growing political and military power. The United States was now recognized as a major player in international politics, and imperialism was a natural outcome of this. European countries had enhanced their standing on the world stage by the acquisition, development, and exploitation of their colonies, and it was thought that the United States might also do this. No longer was it enough for the United States to see itself as a beacon of liberty or the land of opportunity; it must also be respected in the old-fashioned way: hope this helps.

support or refute Andrew Jackson's claim the Indian removal was done in the best interest of American Indians
OLga [1]

I support Andrew Jackson's claim which states that the Indian Removal was done in the best interests of American Indians.

The indian removal of the United States to Individual States brough several benefits, such as:

  • It put an end to a possible <u>danger of collision.</u>
  • It <u>allowed states to grow</u> rapidly in wealth, power and population, which reinforced the southwestern border.

In addition, the indian removal to the native americans contributed to:

  • <u>Release the Indians</u> of the power of the state.
  • Enabled them to <u>maintain their way of life</u> (culture, traditions, language, etc).

As Jackson quoted himself "The removal was necessary because the <u>Native Americans would be annihilated</u>".

What became a strategy that workers used in order to seek better working conditions ?
shepuryov [24]

Many workers used strikes as a means to receive better working conditions. A strike is when a group of employees refuse to do work for a specific business/company. In this case, the employees refuse to go back to work until their demands are met. The goal is to hurt the company, as they will lose money due to the fact that they cannot open for business or generate any new products.

During the late 1800's and early 1900's workers used this strategy to fight for better working conditions such as: shorter work days, better pay, safer working conditions, etc.
