The African American Renaissance flowered during the 1920s in the Harlem community of New York City. This happened during this time because African Americans migrated to the North in large numbers and found more equality and a community in New York City. This made possible for people create a unique cultural exchange between Caribbean people and Northern and serve as an inspiration for the arts. The Harlem Renaissance nurtured African-American pride and contributed to literature, drama, and music.
