After the French and Indian war, the Treaty of Paris draw lines of British land and french land. The French lost some of their holdings, while Britain gained some. The picture should help.

Answer:

The French and Indian War which is also known as Seven Years war ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As per the terms of the treaty France gave up all of its territories in North America and Britain gained all the French territories east of the Mississippi river, in return of Florida  Britain gave Cuba to Spain. Although the British gained territories in the North America the war was expensive and they imposed taxis on the colonialists and it led to colonial rebellion and developed into full scale war of independence.

Economic factors.  The US wanted to take an empire to give it new markets in which to sell goods and from which to buy raw materials.

Military factors.  This was the time of Alfred Thayer Mahan’s ideas about the dominant role of naval power.  The US felt that taking an empire would give it more naval bases from which to project power.  This would allow the  US to become a more important power.

Cultural factors.  Many Americans believed in the idea of the “white man’s burden.”  They felt that they needed to go out and help to civilize the rest of the world.
