<u>EXPLANATION: </u>

Art and architecture in medieval times had undergone a lot of movements. We have the Byzantine, Early Christian, the Romanesque, the Carolingian, and even the Gothic periods during this time.Artists created relief sculptures and carvings which looked like 3-D pictures. They used ivory to make designs on book covers, devotional items or doors.

The art and architecture of this time can also be characterized by the use of bright colors, gems, and stones, elaborate patterns.They decorated churches and palaces with old forms like frescoes (watercolor paintings on plaster) and mosaics (images made from many pieces of stones and glasses).
