Compare the two processes: mitosis and meiosis. Can you identify the the true statements about the two? Meiosis results in four

haploid daughter cells. Mitosis results in four diploid daughter cells. In both processes, DNA replication must occur. During meiosis the 2N mother cells produces N daughter cells. Mitosis is responsible for genetic continuity; in higher organisms it is essential for growth and repair. In plants, egg and sperm are produced via mitosis. I’m

Answer:

The correct statements are:

  • Meiosis results in four haploid daughter cells.
  • During meiosis, the 2N mother cells produce N daughter cells.
  • In both processes, DNA replication must occur.
  • Mitosis is responsible for genetic continuity; in higher organisms, it is essential for growth and repair.

Mitosis is a type of cell division in which a parent cell is divided into two identical daughter cells. Each daughter cell contains identical genetic material as that of the parent cell.

It plays important role in growth and repair of cells and tissues in multi-cellular organisms.

Meiosis is a type of cell division in which a parent cell is divided to produce four daughter cells. Each daughter cell contains exactly half the genetic material (chromosomes) as that of parent cells

It plays important role in the production of gametes (eggs and sperms) in sexually reproducing organisms.

Before either cell division, the DNA is replicated in the S or synthesis phase of the cell cycle.

What is the relationship between the size of the planet and its distance from the sun?
Anna007 [38]
P^2 (Earth years) = a^3 (astronomical units)

P = period
a = semi-major axis of elliptical orbit

"...
Kepler's third law of planetary motion is a mathematical relation between orbital periods and distances. It allows astronomers to measure masses of celestial objects. Johannes Kepler went to work for Tycho Brahe near the end of Tycho's life. When Tycho died, Kepler used Tycho's data to deduce three laws of planetary motion. Because Tycho's data were far more accurate than any previously collected data on planetary positions neither Ptolemy's nor Copernicus's models of the cosmos worked.

How does cellular respiration work with photosynthesis?
Margaret [11]

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are connected through an important relationship. This relationship enables life to survive. The products of one process are the reactants of the other. Photosynthesis makes glucose that is used in cellular respiration to make ATP. The glucose is then turned back into carbon dioxide, which is used in photosynthesis. While water is broken down to form oxygen during photosynthesis, in cellular respiration oxygen is combined with water to form water.

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are also an important part of Carbon cycle.
