Answer:

we can translate the problem into two equations. The first statement is translated to x + y = 10 where x represents the amount of cashews in the mix while  y represents the amount of peanuts in the mixture. In this case, the second equation is translated to 5.60x + 2.30 y = 3.29*10. solving the two equations simultaneously, x is equal to 3 pounds while y is equal to 7 pounds

Answer:

The grocer will buy 7 pounds of peanuts and 3 pounds of cashews.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the grocer wants 10 pounds of peanut and cashew mixture, that means that the number of pounds of each added together will equal 10.

Let c equal the number of pounds of cashews, and p equal the number of pounds of peanuts.

c + p = 10

Since he wants to make the mix cost $3.29 per pound then that means the total cost to buy the supplies for the mix totals up to $3.29 times 10. The number of pounds of peanuts is their cost times p and the same goes for the cashews but times c, once added together should equal $3.29 times 10.

$5.60c + $2.30p = $3.29*10

Now since the cashews cost more per pound, there will be less of them in the mix, which also means that the ratio of peanuts to cashews will not be equal. So lets try this

$5.60 x 2 + $2.30 x 8 = $3.29 x 10

$11.20 + $18.40 = $32.90

That does not work because $11.20 added to $18.40 does not equal $32.90 it actually ends up equaling $29.60, which means that there aren't enough cashews. So lets try taking away one pound of peanuts and adding one pound of cashews.

$5.60 x 3 + $2.30 x 7 = $3.29 x 10

$16.80 + $16.10 = $32.90

This is correct because $16.80 added to $16.10 does equal $32.90. Therefore meaning that the grocer will have to buy 7 pounds of peanuts and 3 pounds of cashews.

Find the approximate side length of a square game board with an area of 105 in2.
aleksley [76]

Answer:

Rounded to the nearest inch: 10

Rounded to the nearest tenth: 10.2

Rounded to the nearest hundredth: 10.25

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of a square, we multiply the side length by itself, or in other words, SQUARE the side length!

A=s^2

We are given the area, so plugging that into our equation looks like this:

105=s^2

To eliminate the exponent, take the square root of both sides of the equation!

\sqrt{105}=s

From here, there are a few paths to take, depending on what your teacher is looking for. I will evaluate the approximate of the square root by finding the nearest perfect squares.

The nearest perfect square less than √105 is √100, and the nearest perfect square greater than √105 is √121.

105 is closer to 100 than to 121, so √105 is closer to √100.

√100 is equal to 10, so the √105 is approximately 10 inches!

Using a calculator to check:

\sqrt{105}=10.247 inches

Please help me with the question
Damm [24]

Answer:

The right answer is Option 2:

y+6 = -\frac{3}{4}(x-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Point-slope form of equation of a line is given by:

y-y_1 = m(x-x_1)

Here m is slope of the line and (x1,y1) is the point from which the line passes.

Given

Slope = m = -3/4

Point = (x1,y1) = (2,-6)

We simply have to put these value into the general form of equation of line in point-slope form

y-(-6) = -\frac{3}{4}(x-2)\\y+6 = -\frac{3}{4}(x-2)

Hence,

The right answer is Option 2:

y+6 = -\frac{3}{4}(x-2)

A banks loan officer rates applicants for credit. The ratings are normally distributed with a mean of 200 and a standard deviati
Alona [7]

Answer:

2.87%

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the following information:

mean (m) = 200

standard deviation (sd) = 50

sample size = n = 40

the probability that their mean is above 21.5 is determined as follows:

P (x> 21.5) = P [(x - m) / (sd / n ^ (1/2))> (21.5 - 200) / (50/40 ^ (1/2))]

P (x> 21.5) = P (z> -22.57)

this value is very strange, therefore I suggest that it is not 21.5 but 215, therefore it would be:

P (x> 215) = P [(x - m) / (sd / n ^ (1/2))> (215 - 200) / (50/40 ^ (1/2))]

P (x> 215) = P (z> 1.897)

P (x> 215) = 1 - P (z <1.897)

We look for this value in the attached table of z and we have to:

P (x> 215) = 1 - 0.9713 (attached table)

P (x> 215) =.0287

Therefore the probability is approximately 2.87%
