The three consecutive numbers whose sum is 84 are 27 , 28 , 29

Step-by-step explanation:

Consecutive numbers are:

1. The numbers that follow each other in order

2. They have a difference of 1 between every two numbers

Examples:

1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 are consecutive numbers

1 , 3 , 5 , 7 are consecutive odd numbers

2 , 4 , 6 , 8 consecutive even numbers

Assume that the smallest number of the three consecutive numbers

is n

∵ The smallest number of the 3 consecutive numbers is n

∴ The 3 numbers are ⇒ n , n + 1 , n + 2

∵ Their sum is 84

Add them and equate the answer by 84

∴ n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) = 84

- Add like terms in the left hand side

∴ (n + n + n) + (1 + 2) = 84

∴ 3 n + 3 = 84

- Subtract 3 from both sides

∴ 3 n = 81

- Divide both sides by 3

∴ n = 27

∵ The 3 numbers are ⇒ n , n + 1 , n + 2

∴ The numbers are ⇒ 27 , (27 + 1) , (27 + 2)

∴ The 3 numbers are ⇒ 27 , 28 , 29

The three consecutive numbers whose sum is 84 are 27 , 28 , 29

Lesechka [4]

The pie must stay for 60 - x more minutes must the pie bake

For how many more minutes must the pie bake?

Let the amount of time spent in the oven be x

So, we have

Total amount of time = 60 minutes

This means that

Remaining time + Amount of time spent = 60

This gives

Remaining time + x = 60

Evaluate

Remaining time = 60 - x

Hence, the pie must stay for 60 - x more minutes must the pie bake
