Question 1

The correct answer is: " a Red Terror campaign to destroy all those who opposed the new regime".

The Cheka was founded right after the October Revolution in 1917. It was a temporary secret body. It is said that part of its troops were the ones that enforced the nacionalization of properties and ran the gulag system for detractors of the new regime.

Question 2 (13)

The correct answer is: "Germans’ use of unrestricted submarine warfare".

The US had been neutral in the conflict until 1917. Germany was performing submarine attacks to passenger and merchant ships. Moreover, Germany was trying to create and alliance with Mexico against the US (Zimmerman Telegram) Therefore President Wilson announced in Congress the declaration of war on Germany. Subsequently the US would also declare war on the German ally, Austria-Hungary.
