the numbers are x=58 & x+2=60 , i.e. 58 and 60 .

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Here we have , Consecutive integers are 1,2,3,4 and so on. Consecutive even integers are 2,4,6,8 and so on. The sum of an integer and twice the next consecutive even integer is 178. We need to Write and solve an equation to find the two integers. Let's find out:

Let the integer be x  , and the next consecutive even integer be  x+2 .Now , According to question , The sum of an integer and twice the next consecutive even integer is 178 i.e.

⇒ x + 2(x+2)=178

⇒ x + 2x+4=178

⇒ 3x+4=178

⇒ 3x=174

⇒ \frac{3x}{3}=\frac{174}{3}

⇒ x=58

Therefore , the numbers are x=58 & x+2=60 , i.e. 58 and 60 .

A recent study compared the time spent together by single- and dual-earner couples. According to the records kept by the wives d
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

There is evidence to show that  the single-earner couples on average spend more time watching television together

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a recent study compared the time spent together by single- and dual-earner couples. According to the records kept by the wives during the study, the mean amount of time spent together watching television among the single-earner couples was 61 minutes per day, with a standard deviation of 15.5 minutes. For the dual-earner couples, the mean number of minutes spent watching television was 48.4 minutes, with a standard deviation of 18.1 minutes.

H_0: \bar x=\bar y\\H_a: \bar x > \bar y

(Right tailed test where x stands for single earner and y for double)

Let us assume sample sizes are 500 each.

Difference -12.600

Standard error 1.066

95% CI -14.6913 to -10.5087

t-statistic  -11.823

DF  998

Significance level P < 0.0001

Since p is less than alpha we reject null hypothesis.

There is evidence to show that  the single-earner couples on average spend more time watching television together

What is the answer!!! 35.00 for a jacket. 10% discount 5% sales tax whats the final cost? PLEASE HELP ME
ASHA 777 [7]
Firstly, you should find the discount that is taken off of the jacket, and then also find the sales tax.
As the discount is 10%, you simply have to divide 35 by 10. 35/10= 3.50.
Therefore, you need to subtract the 3.50 from the 35, which gives you 31.50. You've then got the 5% sales tax to add on, which is 3.50/2= 1.75, you've then got to add 1.75 to 31.50, which gives you 33.25.
However, if the sales tax is on the discounted price, then it will be 31.50/10= 3.15/2= 1.58, and you've then got to add this is to discount price, which is 31.50+1.58= 33.08

Hope this helps :)

Ariyonne claims (3,6) that is the point of intersection of the lines y=4x-2 and y=1/2x+5 Is she correct? How do you know?
yan [13]

Answer:

The point of intersection of the lines is  (2,6).

Thus, Ariyonne's claim is incorrect.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equations:

1) y=4x-2

2) y=\frac{1}{2}x+5

To find the point of intersection, we need to solve the given system of equations.

In order to solve the system we will use substitution method.

We will substitute value of y from first equation in the second equation and solve for x

So, we have

4x-2=\frac{1}{2}x+5

Multiplying both sides by 2 to remove fraction.

2\times(4x-2)=2\times(\frac{1}{2}x+5)

Using distribution.

8x-4=x+10

Subtracting both sides by x

8x-4-x=x+10-x

7x-4=10

Adding 4 to both sides.

7x-4+4=10+4

7x=14

Dividing both sides by 7.

\frac{7x}{7}=\frac{14}{7}

x=2

We can find value of y by plugging in x=2 in the first equation.

y=4(2)-2

y=8-2

y=6

So, the point of intersection of the lines is  (2,6).

Thus, Ariyonne's claim is incorrect.

Please answer There is a bag filled with 3 blue and 5 red marbles. A marble is taken at random from the bag, the colour is noted
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

\frac{15}{28}  is the required probability.

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of Marbles = Blue + Red = 3 + 5 = 8

Probability of getting blue = \frac{3}{8}

Probability of not getting a blue =\frac{5}{8}

To get exactly one blue in two draws, we either get a blue, not blue, or a not blue, blue.

<u>First Draw Blue, Second Draw Not Blue:</u>

1st Draw: P(Blue) = \frac{3}{8}

2nd Draw: P(Not\:Blue)=\frac{5}{7}  (since we did not replace the first marble)

To get the probability of the event, since each draw is independent, we multiply both probabilities.

P(Event)=\frac{3}{8}\cdot \frac{5}{7}=\frac{15}{56}

<u>First Draw Not Blue, Second Draw Not Blue:</u>

1st Draw: P(Not\:Blue)=\frac{5}{8}

2nd Draw: P(Not\:Blue)=\frac{3}{7}  (since we did not replace the first marble)

To get the probability of the event, since each draw is independent, we multiply both probabilities.

P(Event)=\frac{5}{8}\cdot \frac{3}{7}=\frac{15}{56}

To get the probability of exactly one blue, we add both of the events:

\frac{15}{56}+\frac{15}{56}=\frac{15}{28}
