Leslie is using an "elaborative" style to elicit her son's autobiographical memory.

According to the research the elaborative style which contains a lot of question styles, like what?, if?, Why? When, etc. into the conversation with a child, help the child remember the past events in more detail than simple question sentences. what do you notice about the first and third lines of the haiku by basho? what was basho trying to do?
Zina [86]

Answer:

The third line returns to the image of silence in the first line. But the silence is slightly different. In the first line, Basho describes a silent pond. In the third line, he writes, simply, “silence.” Because the pond has now returned to silence after the frog splash, this silence seems more significant than the first.
