The Sisyphean Company has a bond outstanding with a face value of $1000 that reaches maturity in 15 years. The bond certificate

indicates that the stated coupon rate for this bond is 8% and that the coupon payments are to be made semiannually. Assuming the appropriate YTM on the Sisyphean bond is 7.5%, then the price that this bond trades for will be closest to:

Answer:

The price that bond is trading for is closest to  $1,044.57

Explanation:

The price of the bond can be computed using the present value formula in excel which is given as =pv(rate, nper, pmt,fv)

rate is the yield to maturity of 7.5% divided by  2 since the bond is a semi-annual interest paying bond

nper is the year to maturity multiplied by  2 i.e 15*2=30

pmt is the semi-annual interest payable by the bond i.e 8%/2*$1000=$40

fv is the future value of the bond at redemption which is $1000

=pv(3.75%,30,40,1000)

pv= $1,044.57

Answer:

The Price of this bond is $1,044.57

Explanation:

Price of the bond is the present value of all cash flows of the bond. These cash flows include the coupon payment and the maturity payment of the bond. Both of these cash flows discounted and added to calculate the value of the bond.

According to given data

Face value of the bond is $1,000

Coupon payment = C = $1,000 x 8% = $80 annually = $40 semiannually

Number of periods = n = 15 years x 2 = 30 period

Market Rate = 7.5% annually = 3.75% semiannually

Price of the bond is calculated by following formula:

Price of the Bond = C x [ ( 1 - ( 1 + r )^-n ) / r ] + [ F / ( 1 + r )^n ]

Price of the Bond = 40 x [ ( 1 - ( 1 + 3.75% )^-30 ) / 3.75% ] + [ $1,000 / ( 1 + 3.75% )^30 ]

Price of the Bond = $713.17 + $331.40 = $1,044.57

Arturiano [62]

Answer:

Doe Corp. must report a $850,000 net gain during year 7, and a $600,000 net loss for year 6.

Revenue must be recognized when the earnings process is reasonably completed and Doe finished the sale of its assets on January 15, Year 7, therefore the $900,000 revenue has to be included in that year's income statement.

Find the accumulated value of $2,480 at the end of twelve years if the nominal interest rate was 2% convertible monthly for the
dusya [7]
In order to properly tackle this problem, we must understand the relationship between the nominal annual rate and real (effective) annual rate.

To do this:
-First you take the nominal rate, divide by the number of times it's compounded (converted) per year.
-Then, add one to that number, and raise that number to the power of how many times you compound per year.

Here is the method in practice:
First 3 Years:
Nominal rate= 2% ÷ 12 times/yr = 0.001667
Effective rate = 1.001667 ^12 = 1.020184

Next 2 Years (Discounting)
3% ÷ 2/yr = .015
1.015 ^ 2 = 1.061364

Next 4 years (Interest)
.042 ÷ .5 (once every 2 years) = .084
1.084 ^ (1/2) = 1.041153

The last 3 years are already expressed as an effective rate, so we don't need to convert them. The annual rate is:
1.058

I kept the 1 in the numbers (1.058 instead of 5.8% for example) so that it's easier to find the final number

Take every relevant number and raise it to the power of the number of years it's compounded for. For discounting, raise it to a negative power.
First 3 years: 1.020184 ^ 3 = 1.061784
Next 2 years: 1.030225 ^ -2 = .942184
Next 4 years: 1.041163 ^ 4 = 1.175056
Last 3 years: 1.058 ^ -3 = .84439

Multiply these numbers (include all decimals when you do this calculation)
1.062 * .942 * 1.175 * .844 = .992598

This is our final multiplier to find the effect on our principal:
.992598 * 2,480 = 2461.64

Answer is 2461.64
