Answer:

Capillary action refers to the motion of the liquid along the solid surface resulting due to the attraction of the molecules of the liquid. Capillary action is used by the plants to bring water up to the roots and then from stems to the remaining parts of the plant. The liquid molecules are fascinated by the molecules present within the stem. This attraction is utilized to assist the water to move up from the ground and to get distributed to all the parts of the plant.

There are three intermolecular forces that play an essential role in the procedure of capillary action:

1. Adhesion refers to the procedure of combining one substance with another. In plants, adhesion permits the water to attach with the plant's organic tissues.

2. Cohesion maintains the molecules of a similar substance to remain in combination. In plants, cohesion makes the molecules of water to stay together.

3. Surface tension refers to the influence of the intermolecular attraction, which makes liquids to produce a top or outer layer that works like a kind of thin film. Surface tension is accountable for the water drops to attain its shape and for holding the compositions together as plants soak up the water.

Answer: Intermolecular force is what holds molecules together and capillary action is moving of liquid towards upward into a tube that is capillary. So the Intermolecular forces which takes part in capillary action are; for keeping the molecule attached to tube is the adhesive force and the for keeping the liquid molecule together is cohesive force.

In the plants, mositure from soil is taken up from stem which is tube like and to which molecules have strong adhesion.

Find the unit rate with the second given unit in the denominator.
Kobotan [32]
First, the unit is words per minute, not the other way round because you're interested in how fast people can type, not how much time passes for every number of words they write or read (that would be minutes per word)

now, we know they do 4200 in 60 minutes.

we need to divide 4200 by 60- first,\frac{4200}{60} = \frac{420}{6} = \frac{21}{3} =70

so the answer is, 70 words per minute

I think you made a typo in your answer and you meant 4600 instead of 4200 - then the answer is C. 76 2/3 word/min

When an athlete is nearing the end of a race ad her cells are low on oxygen?
Artemon [7]
When an athlete is nearing the end of a race and her cells are low on oxygen, it is likely to be fermentation. When cells have used up all their oxygen they ferment glucose into lactic acid. Fermentation is a metabolic process that consumes sugar in the absence of oxygen

In a sample of double-stranded DNA, 10 percent of the nitrogenous bases are guanine (G). What percentage of the nitrogenous base
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

40%

Explanation:

Remember that guanine always pairs with cytosine, and thymine always pairs with adenine. That means that any time there is a guanine, there is always a cytosine.

If there are 10% guanines, then there are 10% cytosines. That means the total of guanines and cytosines is 20%.

The other 2 bases (thymine and adenine) have to make up the rest of the bases. That means they have to make up 100-20 = 80%.

Again, there will be equal amounts of thymine and adenine, so 80%/2 = 40%.
