How many pounds each of dried fruit selling for $3.00 per pound and $3.80 per pound must be mixed to make a mixture of 80 pounds
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3 per pound is 30 pounds

The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3.80 per pound is 50 pounds  .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The price of one dried fruit = $ 3.00 per pound

The price of other dried fruit = $ 3.80 per pound

The total quantity of mix dried fruit = 80 pounds

The price of sell for mix dried fruit = $ 3.50 per pound

Let The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3 per pound = x pounds

And The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3.80 per pound = y pounds

Now , According to question

x + y = 80 pounds

And  3 × x + 3.8 × y = 3.5 × ( x + y )

Or, 3 x + 3.8 y = 3.5 x + 3.5 y

Or, 3.8 y - 3.5 y = 3.5 x - 3 x

or, 0.3 y = 0.5 x

Or, y = \frac{0.5}{0.3} x

I.e y =  \frac{5}{3} x

Put the value of y in  x + y = 80 pounds

I.e x = 80 - y

Or, x = 80 - \frac{5}{3} x

Or, x + \frac{5}{3} x = 80

or, \frac{5 + 3}{3} x = 80

Or, \frac{8}{3} x = 80

∴ x = \frac{240}{8}

I.e x = 30

So,The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3 per pound = x = 30 pounds

Now, y =  80 - x

∴ y = 80 - 30

I.e y = 50

So,The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3.80 per pound = y = 50 pounds

Hence The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3 per pound is 30 pounds

And The quantity of dried fruit of $ 3.80 per pound is 50 pounds  .  Answer

A forester measured 28 of the trees in a large woods that is up for sale. He found a mean diameter of 10.4 inches and a standard
JulsSmile [24]

Answer:

a) Attachment

b) 6 to 14.8 in

c) 2.5%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

- The mean is u = 10.4 in

- The standard deviation s.d = 4.4

- Sample size n = 28

Find:

- Choose the correct Normal model for tree diameters. A. B. C.

- What size would you expect the central 68% of all tree diameters to be?Using the 68-95-99.7 rule, the central 68% of the tree diameters are between ____ inches and _____ inches.

- About what percent of the trees should have diameters below 1.6 inches?

Solution:

- The central 68% lies within two s.d from mean.

                                  10.4 + 1*4.4 = 14.8

                                  10.4 - 1*4.4 = 6

Hence, the central 68% are between 6 and 14.8 inches.

- The central 95% lies within two s.d from mean.

                                  10.4 + 2*4.4 = 19.2

                                  10.4 - 2*4.4 = 1.6

- The central 95% are between 1.6 and 19.2 inches.

- Hence, P ( X < 1.6) = (1 - 0.95)/2 = 0.025 or 2.5%

Find the solution for the system of linear equations by substitution: y = 3x + 4 and y = x + 2. Explain how
gavmur [86]

Answer:

(-1, 1)

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Algebra</u>

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS
  • Equality Properties

<u>Algebra I</u>

  • Solving systems of equations by substitution/elimination

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define systems</u>

y = 3x + 4

y = x + 2

<u>Step 2: Solve for </u><em><u>x</u></em>

  1. Substitute:                              3x + 4 = x + 2
  2. Subtract <em>x</em> on both sides:      2x + 4 = 2
  3. Subtract 4 on both sides:      2x = -2
  4. Divide both sides by 2:          x = -1

<u>Step 3: Solve for </u><em><u>y</u></em>

  1. Define:                    y = x + 2
  2. Substitute:              y = -1 + 2
  3. Add:                        y = 1

And we have our answer!
